Abandoned Checkout Vs Add To Cart Abandonment Series
A common mistake I see eCommerce brand owners make is only having one abandoned flow to recover lost customers. These brands usually have an abandoned checkout flow, which is triggered when a customer begins the checkout process but does not complete their purchase.
However, where these brands are losing a lot of revenue is by not having an Add to Cart abandonment flow.
The Add to Cart abandonment flow is actually triggered when someone adds to cart, but doesn’t begin the checkout process (one step before the abandoned checkout trigger). As you may realize, your abandoned checkout flow will not pick up on these customers and therefore will not send abandoned checkout email reminders to them, resulting in a large amount of revenue being lost.
By default on Klaviyo, every brand has the trigger for the Abandoned Checkout flow. For the Add to Cart abandonment flow to trigger properly, you need to have a custom snippet code added to your backend so it can identify these customers and trigger the flow appropriately.
